Aluminum is NOT Teflon…or Vibranium!

Aluminum is NOT Teflon…or Vibranium!

The aluminum producer, NORSK HYDRO was hit by a cyber attack.  One of the world’s largest aluminum producers announced this week that a cyber attack has created production outages across Europe and the U.S.

According to various sources, cyber attacks have become a major threat to the highly integrated global supply chain of metals and minerals.  Industry Week reports, The cyber attack on Hydro began late Monday, escalating during the night, (and according to) a spokeswoman for the Norwegian National Security Authority…’The state agency is helping the company and sharing information with international bodies, yet it’s too early to comment in detail’, she said.”

The growing number of cyber attacks continue to prove that even in the industry of metals and minerals – likely even if they DID produce Vibranium (“the strongest and most resilient material on Planet Earth;” that’s from Wakanda, Black Panther fans!) – cyber attacks can cause mayhem.

Norsk Hydro has moved to limited production and has shifted to MANUAL mode – is this a foreshadowing of the future of manufacturing in this ever-growing digital world…?
